restup vs bevel

by Aman Priyadarshi · september 12, 2026

Bevel wants to be the one health app: recovery, strain, stress, nutrition, strength, cycle, health records and an AI coach, with a free core tier. RestUp wants to be the one honest reading each morning. They read the same Apple Watch data and go in opposite directions with it.

Where they agree

Both work from the Apple Watch you already own through Apple Health, with no extra hardware. Both give a recovery number out of 100 from overnight heart rate variability and resting heart rate against a personal baseline, a sleep score, a sleep debt figure, a Watch app with complications, and home and lock screen widgets. Bevel also connects Garmin, Oura and Fitbit directly. RestUp connects to no device directly; on Android it reads whatever those devices’ own apps write to Health Connect.

Where they differ

Account and where your data goes

Bevel requires registration. Its privacy policy says imported biometric data is stored and processed locally by default, while contact details live in the cloud and anything you send to Bevel Intelligence goes to cloud and AI providers, kept for up to 30 days. Its App Store label lists identifiers used to track you and email, name and location linked to you. RestUp has no account, no server holding health data, and a label that lists only anonymous, opt-out analytics about the app itself. If the privacy line matters to you, that is the biggest difference on this page.

Breadth versus one answer

Bevel’s free tier already includes recovery, sleep, strain, stress, nutrition, strength, an energy bank, cycle tracking, health monitors and a journal. Pro adds the AI coach, health records and a biological age estimate. Reviewers praise the range and also describe it as overwhelming and the scoring as a black box. RestUp shows fewer things and publishes exactly how its score is computed.

Time to a baseline

Bevel says its 60-day baseline takes two to six weeks to settle. RestUp’s 14-night baseline is usable after a week and steady after two, and the app labels early readings as early.

Chronotype

RestUp reads your chronotype from real nights. Bevel lists a circadian rhythm feature on its public request board but has not shipped one as of the date below.

Price

Bevel’s core is free, and its Pro tier is the most expensive in this category at $99.99 a year. RestUp has a free week and then one subscription; the current price is on the App Store or Google Play listing rather than here, because it can change by region.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Bevel if you want nutrition, strength and cycle tracking in the same place as recovery, if you use a Garmin or a ring alongside your watch, or if a free tier is the deciding factor.

Pick RestUp if you want the recovery reading without the account, the cloud and the dashboard, and if you would rather understand one number than browse twenty. Bevel is free to try and RestUp’s first week is free, so the honest advice is a week with each.
