rest is strength

RestUp is made by Aman Priyadarshi, an independent developer. There is no company behind it, no growth team, and no plan to sell your data, because RestUp never has it.

Why RestUp exists

Health wearables are good at collecting and bad at explaining. You wake up to a wall of charts and a vague sense that you did something wrong. RestUp started from a simpler question: given what my Apple Watch already recorded last night, is today a day to push or a day to rest?

Everything in the app is built to answer that in plain words, once a morning, and then get out of the way. Rest is treated as strength, not as a failure to train. A bad night is described, never punished.

What it reads, and where the math happens

RestUp reads sleep stages, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing rate and workouts — from Apple Health on iPhone, or Health Connect on Android — plus blood oxygen on nights your watch records it, and wrist temperature on iPhone. It is read-only on both: it never writes to your health records. Every score is computed on your phone against your own baseline. There is no account, no server holding your health data, and no ads.

The one thing that does leave your phone is anonymous, opt-out usage analytics about the app itself, never your health data. The privacy policy lists every processor by name.

What it refuses to do

  • No streak anxiety, leaderboards or guilt. Nothing in RestUp is designed to make you feel behind.
  • No medical claims. RestUp is a wellness companion, not a medical device, and a low score is a nudge to rest, not a diagnosis.
  • No invented numbers. If the watch did not record a signal, RestUp shows it as missing rather than filling in a guess.
  • No extra hardware. The watch you already own is enough.

How it is paid for

The first week is free and nothing is charged until day eight. After that, RestUp Plus is an optional subscription billed through the App Store or Google Play, which you can cancel any time in that store’s settings. The terms are written to be read.

How to reach a real person

Write to hello@restup.app. Messages are read by the person who built the app. Bugs, ideas and disagreements are all welcome. For the usual questions, the support page has the short answers.
